Fall 2023 Couture; Major Moment | Armani Privé

I hope you’re all well.
As we continue our Fall 2023 Couture recaps, Spring 2024 Fashion Month has begun come and gone.
Lately, I’ve been going on and on about how fashion is in a weird lull – exacerbated by the pandemic; the overarching theme of dressing being described as “norm-core” – but couture really brings me joy.
Couture is really the place where fashion can have fun, creativity can run wild, and houses can really flex their craftsmanship.
And while couture can be overly extravagant – though this season the term “quiet luxury” has been making the rounds, sometimes it’s about going back to basics and dialing up the glam just a bit.
Armani Privé did just that.
Despite being the couture counterpart to Armani’s main line, it was still quite a large collection, done up in glittering fabrics with heavy sequins and embellishments.
Giorgio Armani knows his woman; classic – with a reserved elegance, characteristics he brings to all his pieces.
In fact, if one studies his collections, one will see very clear house codes – tailoring, jackets, and an almost old Hollywood sense of glamour.
This collection was no exception.
Centered around a rose motif and lacquer boxes from the Far East, Mr. Armani presented 67 stunning looks.
The press notes described “a journey from west to east through elongated silhouettes,” with “hints of other worlds and cultures.”
Imbued with the delicate femininity of these flowers, these pieces combined lustrous fabrics with textural elements of sequin, 3-D embellishments, and even various forms of embroidery to bring these blossoms to life – all while not deviating from the core elements associated with his brand.
…a true showing of what a clear vision, strong inspiration, and talented couturiers can accomplish.
