trini_tings; designer series
Happy Sunday y’all!!
Those who know me know that I’m not usually one to sit still…so here I go again with another semi-ambitious project.
That being said, I’ve decided to make the most of my time here in Trinidad and take advantage of the creative network that I’m currently developing.
It’s no secret that there is a lack of a cohesive fashion industry here. The designers work on their own schedules – and that makes it difficult to have a unified fashion movement.
But, the country is rich in talent and that should be celebrated!
So, in an organic and less rigid continuation of my undergraduate research on the industry, I’ve decided to interview and spotlight local designers on my blog.
I’m very excited about this undertaking, as it will challenge me to creatively, and fashionably, feature their work, but that’s the beauty of collaboration!
And, more importantly, I am hoping that this project shows the diversity and potential of this underdeveloped and under-appreciated pocket of Trinidadian life.
Also, because of the nature of the project – involving both an interview element AND somewhat of an advertorial, I’m aiming to do one feature a month.
…let’s see how many we get through!
