SS18; Major Moment | Tom Ford
The King of Sex is back!
And of course, it took me a while to get to here but, better to have reviewed than not review at all eh?
What is Tom Ford known for?
The designer has such a rich reputation and has enjoyed many successes in the fashion industry.
He is created for resurrecting the Gucci label, simultaneously serving as the Creative Director for both Gucci and YSL.
Talk about worker-bee!
In fact, when Ford left, four people were hired to handle the work that he had done.
But, for a designer, who has – quite frankly – been doing this for almost 30 years, what’s next?
Ford is constantly pushing his own boundaries. For SS16 he opted out of a traditional runway and filmed a music video instead. Then he moved to Hollywood, directing a few films, and showing new collections off-cycle/see-now-buy-now on the West Coast.
Now he’s back in New York!
What’s different this time?
Ford has an arsenal of resources behind him now – experiences as well but also new techniques to spice up his already developed sexy aesthetic.
Taking cues from his menswear collection, Ford wondered, what’s sexier than a woman in tailored suit?
And now Ford has the capabilities to adapt his uber renowned, traditionally masculine suits for his female clients.
So, here you have it. Expertly cut blazers, broad-shouldered and peak-lapeled, in a variety of glitzy and glamorous fabrics.
Of course, sexy is the name of the game so plunging necklines, high cut, hip-exposing bodysuits and long-sleeve, under-butt-showing t-shirts were in order.
And no need to mention the ruched, sheer, finale gowns.
Ford is back, and confidently so.
Sex will always sell. Ford will always sell sex. And, with collections like this, we will always buy.
See the rest of the collection here.
Enjoy!
