FW17; Major Moment | Emilio Pucci
So, normally I try to not be toooooo influenced by the “professional” reviews of the collections…
I mean, after all it is my blog right?
That being said, let’s talk Pucci.
I LOVE this collection.
I think it is strong, conceptual and a modern take on very disctinct and seemingly forgotten house codes.
Pucci is known for print.
But while that much is known, it seems that Massimo Giorgetti – the brand’s new creative director – is intent on bringing the brand into a new era.
Giorgetti’s aim, to merge the well-known acid-trip patterns with more modern silhouettes – jumpsuits, fringe, bejeweled boots.
The entire show was a psychedelic fiesta; down to the styling which matched the runway.
“…color, optimistic and positive”
And while a few reviewers wondered about the practicality of some of the clothing, and the shift from the ease that is associated with the Pucci brand, I am here for it.
In fact, the Vogue reviewer thought the collection was too far out of character for the brand.
“…dear departed Emilio could’ve never intended [the prints] to be worn head-to-toe as they were on a cape-back dress and another in a loose sack-like shape with a scarf neck.”
That being said, color and drama aren’t necessarily things one sees on a Fall runway.
And while the industry as a whole is currently experiencing major shakeups, why does it seem so taboo for a fashion house to also embrace change?
Giorgetti says, “Be bright. Be bold. Be happy.”
And I say, “Why not?”
See the rest of the collection here.
Enjoy!
