FW17; Major Moment | Antonio Berardi
The first review of London Fashion Week and already a Major Moment?
If anything, that is an indication of what’s to be expected from this crop of London designs – and trust me, there is a lot to be seen.
In fact, I think out of all the collections, the London shows were the most expansive and diverse with such a wide array of artistry, separates and to be honest, clothing in general.
Berardi’s inspiration came from what he described as a scheming and screaming Lady Macbeth, storming through the Scottish highlands.
Seems specific….
And it is that precise point-of-view that enabled this collection to be as strong, cohesive and wide-ranging as it was.
Dresses, pants, flowy tops, soft, structured, embellished….
There are a lot of options here…
There were period-ish pieces that were versatile in nature, able to be quickly changed to more casual looks due to clever tailoring, drawstrings and concealed poppers.
And while Elizabethan in feel, the collection still had a modernity, and ever-important visual appeal with glitzy crystallized sleeves, an impressive leap for this designer.
See, risk mightn’t be such a bad thing after all…
See the rest of the collection here.
Enjoy!
