*FW17; Major Moment | Lacoste
Call it coincidence if you will, but the minute creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista discovered founder Lacoste’s fascination with aviation it was a match made in heaven – no pun intended.
Of course, the fact that Baptista’s own father was a pilot, coupled with a slight addiction to old sci-fi space-travel movies, the sky (and beyond) served as inspiration for this amazingly rich collection.
So, retro-inspired jumpsuits, puffer jackets, earth-toned parkas and planetary prints were in order as models strutted down a Mars-landing-esque runway – red rocks, gravel and the works.
And with the simplicity of the clothing, Baptista also brought space-age functionality; separates and wearable, convertible clothing, perfect for a few rotations around the sun.
Yet, the collection was effortlessly grounded . Plaids and 90s slouch cargo pants – you know, earthly trends – didn’t feel out of place in the interstellar fantasy.
A solid and well thought out presentation for Lacoste’s Fall-Winter showing.

Enjoy!
