*FW17; Major Moment | Altuzzara

Hi my loves,

Our first Major Moment post for the season – and it’s definitely not wasted on the ever artful Joseph Altuzzara.

This season, Altuzzara referenced Macbeth;

“Look like th’ innocent flower, but be the serpent under ’t.”

The goal? To take from Vogue.com, the objective was “to paint a portrait of the Altuzarra client that’s complex.”

Of course, this didn’t prove to be difficult for a designer such as Altuzarra who has always embraced romanticism and artistic detailing.

The challenge? To take something set in such a specific far past period and keep it fresh and modern.

For the most part this was accomplished – sans a few dated looks – through the use of combat boots and leather-esque gloves.

But of course it didn’t matter in such a lush collection.

This collection BEGGED to be touched. Between the velvet, the mink, the sensationally stitched embroidery – it was a feast for the senses. And then the trimmings in pearl and gold lace – opulence was the agenda.

Overall, a solidly conceived and pretty collection – all flower, no snake (to return to the Shakespearean reference).

Evidently, Altuzzara was successful in achieving the intricacy he sought and for that he should be proud.

See the rest of the collection here.

Enjoy!

xx
