*SS17; Major Moment | Emilio Pucci

Hello lovelies,

Can you believe it’s the last week of October? Crazy to think of how quickly this month has flown by.

Today’s featured collection is that of Emilio Pucci.

And while some of you may know the famous Pucci prints – very kaleidoscopic in nature – don’t expect to see them here.

Creative Director, Massimo Giorgetti, has admitted that he prefers to look to the future. This is completely natural; for designers to encourage progression. However, the difficulty emerges as one must strike the right balance between staying true to the house’s established codes and modernity.

Giorgetti has, in fact, begun to achieve this.

For his Spring-Summer collection, he dove right into the Pucci archives. And although Giorgetti may be straying from a reliance on the signature patterns, he cleverly found ways to update the house’s signature elements.

The prints that he did use, to add a fresh take, he enlarged. This served to create very graphic looks – a developing trend at the moment.

Furthermore, while each look may not have utilized Pucci’s infamous psychedelic fabric, the collection as a whole still maintained a bright and multicolored feel – making use of turquoise, yellow and coral – very synonymous with the house.

Despite this only being his third season as Creative Director, Giorgetti is still finding his footing. However, none can dispute that this seems to be a step in the right direction, and just what the Pucci house needs to move into a new era.

See the rest of the collection here.

Enjoy!

xx
