*tbt: SS15 Major Moment; Rodarte
Our last Major Moment for the NYFW SS15 collections comes from Rodarte.
This season, sister-designers Laura and Kate Mulleavy sought aquatic inspiration in the form of tide pools.
It is always so exciting to see designers who are able to be inspired by very abstract ideas and channel them into artistic but also commercially acceptable clothes, all while maintaining the core of the brand…Not as easy as it sounds!
But that’s just what these sisters did!
The clothes told the story…evoking depth and tension…much like the water it was meant to evoke.
The art was there, the craft was there…the use of different materials…from hooks to netting and heavy embroidery…it was all there.
This was an incredibly imaginative and cohesive collection that lends a daydream to the consumer…and isn’t that what fashion is supposed to do?
Style.com commends this, simply stating “women are going to want these clothes.”
See the rest of the collection here.
Enjoy!
