SS18; Major Moment | Delpozo

It’s hump day lovelies!

And the NYFW recaps continue…

Our next Major Moment of the season – after Alexander Wang, Brandon Maxwell and Calvin Klein – comes as no surprise!

In fact, Delpozo has consistently been featured on the blog for its knockout collections and artistically luxe designs.

This season is no exception.

Creative Director Josep Font’s Spring-Summer collection has taken inspiration from Slovakian photographer Maria Svarbova’s “Swimming Pools.” The images are eerily stunning.

Featuring gorgeous pastels, bright colors, and dramatic shadows, Svarbova’s photos themselves sought to capture the “sterile and geometric aesthetic of old swimming pools.”

So of course, it isn’t a stretch to see the similar underlying qualities between the two artists’ work.

Font, who has a knack for the architectural, wove a warmth into the clothing; the show’s notes indicated flounces and flamenco touches – fiery latin touches adding a musicality to the garments [the house is after all Spanish].

This is a happy collection.

The house’s usual palazzo pants and knits were featured, alongside constructed tops – this time done in print! [a first for the brand?] – paired with raffia sandals and pops of brightly colored neon.

And of course, brilliantly delicate tulle dresses added a bit of whimsy to a normally structured collection.

Delpozo as a brand has witnessed such successes, at least from an artistic point of view. Font’s refined eye for sophisticated and layered references, and his attention to detail keep the label polished and fresh, while still maintaining it’s uptown chic, “prêt-à-couture” vibe.

But don’t take my word for it….see for yourself!

See the rest of the collection here.

Enjoy!

xx
