*SS17; Major Moment | Proenza Schouler

Good morning lovelies!

Here again after a mini-hiatus. In my defense, the weather – distant effects of the much-discussed Hurricane Matthew – has been perfect for having multiple cups of tea and binge-watching teen-oriented television shows. And that’s exactly what I’ve been doing!

(Latest obsession; Scream Queens).

Needless to say, despite the weather – and Kim K’s unfortunate burglary- fashion month continues.

Paris Fashion week finally actually finishes tomorrow – October 5th, then back to normalcy for a few weeks.

Alas, the New York collections have given me so much creative fodder, that I still continue my recap.

Now, although I haven’t reallllly discussed this label, I’ve had my eye on Proenza Schouler for quite some time; I guess I didn’t have much to say…..until now.

This talented duo, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, have consistently (and I mean consistently) delivered quality womenswear.

Having their Parson’s senior thesis, essentially the first Proenza Schouler collection, completely bought up by Barney’s, this team has constantly been on the up.

A favorite of the CFDA and Vogue, the pair have won multiple “Womenswear Designer of the Year” Awards; in the years 2007, 2011 and 2013.

It is always exciting to see a label that has kind of come into it’s own.

The designers are less afraid of risk, having already established a loyal following, and seemingly enjoy creatively challenging themselves.

And this season, Proenza Schouler does just that.

We see the team embracing color in their fitted and knitted dresses, after numerous seasons of neutrality. And, as is expected, McCullough and Hernandez emphasize handiwork, expertise and possibly dying couture techniques.

There was such balance of hardness and rigidity with softness and femininity, expressed through everything from cutouts, graphic prints, furs, feathers, and leather.

With knockout collections like this, everyone is happy…buyers, editors, and consumers alike…

See the rest of the collection here.

Enjoy!

xx
