*SS17; Major Moment | Marc Jacobs

Hello darlings,

Vogue.com praises the most recent New York shows as a playful and light-hearted response to a tense political climate.

This time the fun comes in the form of Marc Jacobs SS17 collection…

Marc’s Spring girl attends a raver, cause what’s more fun than a dance party? She is adorned with multicolor dreadlocks and glitter (which at this point is pretty much a staple at a Jacob’s show).

And while the collection may have opened with pastels, it quickly descends into a carnival of color…

On the menu:

  • feathers
  • sequins
  • metallics
  • prints
  • neons
  • denim
  • ornate illustrations – provided by Julie Verhoeven, an artist with whom Jacobs has collaborated with for the S/S 2002 Louis Vuitton collection.

And of course the sky-high platforms – a feature of his FW16 show -are back, and maybe bigger than ever!

It seems that the decision to merge of Jacobs’ lower end, Marc by Marc Jacobs, line with his higher, Marc Jacobs, is really paying off!

It allows Jacobs not only a wider audience to paint for but also the collection itself features a wider range of looks; from haute all the way down, with lots of separates suitable for all price points.

Jacobs, a seasoned designer, is really showing why he is as decorated as he is…

With fully realized collections like this, it is no surprise that he was awarded the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award for 2016.

It is no easy task to consistently design such standout collections, especially in a sea of other talented designers…

However, Jacobs proves that he not only can talk the talk, but also walk the walk…just maybe not in those heels?

See the rest of the collection here.

Enjoy!

xx
